IOM and MTC recognise industry best
The Institute of Meat (IOM) and the Meat Training Council (MTC) recognised the achievements of the industry’s best at its annual prize-giving event at the Butchers’ Hall in London this week.
More than 15 awards were presented to individuals, companies and training establishments that have shown particular excellence within the industry during 2010.
The awards were presented by HRH, The Princess Royal, Master of the Worshipful Company of Butchers, who received her own award – Fellowship of the Institute of Meat – from Bill Jermey, MTC Chairman.
Jermey said: “This was a special day for our winners to receive their awards from HRH, The Princess Royal. This annual event celebrates the industry’s commitment to training and development and the resulting achievements.
“It also appreciates the value of individuals from shop floor level to senior management and acknowledges the importance of all these roles in contributing to the overall success of the industry.”
The awards ranged from NVQs in food manufacturing and cleaning to management awards and the ultimate accolade of MTC Accredited Master Butcher, which was awarded to Julien Pursglove from Sainsbury’s.

Adjudged Best Student for the Management Award, Brad Bowyer
