Red Tractor pork promoted for Chinese food market

Bpex, the English pork board, has developed a series of promotional literature to promote Red Tractor pork in Chinese cookery.

The material consists of an A5-sized leaflet and on-pack labels that highlight the five key features associated with the Red Tractor pork logo, which are food safety, animal welfare, environmental protection, guarantee of origin and managed quality controls.

Bpex hopes that wholesalers and suppliers to Chinese restaurants take advantage of the free material, to help their customers understand the advantages from choosing Quality Assured pork – and adding a real point of difference to their menus.

Tony Goodger, Bpex foodservice trade manager, said: “Pork has always been a popular ingredient in Chinese cookery, more so than in other types of international cuisine. The purpose of this new material is to show that by purchasing pork which is backed by the Red Tractor, restaurants will be demonstrating they care about high food standards.

“Chefs in this sector clearly already recognise the versatility of pork – its value for money and the fact that it is ideally suited to their style of cooking. It is, however, important to ensure that, in times of increased customer awareness of food quality and provenance, this burgeoning ethnic sector continues to keep it a dish of choice by sourcing fully assured pork and providing customers with the reassurances they seek. These two pieces of material will help do just that.”

If your business supplies the Chinese catering sector, the point-of-sale material is available to order, free of charge, from or email
