UK producers need to think global
The future of the UK beef and lamb industry largely depends on export opportunities, according to Eblex.
Speaking at a conference in Devon last week, Eblex sector director Nick Allen told delegates that the quality and promotion of British red meat was the key to the industry’s future in a global market.
Almost 100 beef and sheep producers and industry stakeholders attended the first Eblex regional conference, during which global and domestic opportunities, as well as the environmental role of livestock, were discussed.
Eblex senior regional manager for the southern region Dr Phil Hadley said: “We were very pleased with the number of people who attended the conference and how keen they were to engage with the subjects being discussed.
“We will be holding a similar event in the northern region in May and we hope as many levy payers as possible will take the opportunity to come along and find out more about the work Eblex is doing.”
