Highland Game launches venison in Tesco

Highland Game has launched a new range of easy-to-cook venison products created exclusively for Tesco.

The ‘Chef’s Selection’ range has been developed by Scottish-born chefs Maxine Clark and Willie Pike MBE and includes grill steaks, burgers, sausages and meatballs. The products are packaged in distinctive black packaging, which includes recipe and serving suggestions.

They will be launched in selected Tesco stores across Scotland on 16 April 2012 and will be priced at £2.50 for the first 12 weeks to encourage consumers to try Scottish venison.

Christian Nissen, managing director at Highland Game, said: “I am thrilled to introduce the new Highland Game ‘Chef’s Selection’ of Scottish venison, exclusively sourced and produced for Tesco; the biggest showroom and shopping window for Scottish consumers. It fulfills our strategy and ambition to make venison easily accessible and readily available to everyone.”

Angus Bell, local category buying manager at Tesco, added: “We are delighted to have worked with Highland Game to launch the new Chef’s Selection range. Venison is becoming increasingly popular and this new range offers exciting recipes for our customers. This premium Scottish heritage range will sit proudly on our shelves.”

Highland Game will be launching two further products in the Autumn, including marinated diced venison and steaks with a whisky jus. Nissen said that the company will look to start selling the range in England in April 2013, once it has been successfully trialled by Tesco customers in Scotland.
