British Turkey supports Family Feast campaign
British Turkey has teamed up with Love British Food campaign, which is working to give some of Britain’s poorest families the opportunity to come together and celebrate the Olympics and Paralympic games.
The Love British Food campaign is organised by British Food Fortnight to coincide with the Olympics (27th July – 12th August). The campaign is working with LOCOG to organise Family Feasts in Sure Start Children Centres in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the country, providing volunteer chefs and food.
British Turkey has donated a hamper of fresh British turkey cuts to 24 of teh centres taking part, and is encouraging consumers to organise their own family feasts over the sumnmer.
Lorna Cousins, chair of the British Turkey Federation Publicity & Marketing Committee said: “2012 is really a year of getting together with friends to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics. We are keen to encourage people to get into the spirit of things and organise their own fun events to celebrate with good food.
“We are encouraging consumers to organise anything from a BBQ at home for close friends and family, to a fun feast in a hall where guests can each bring a dish. Turkey is a great versatile meat which can be cooked in numerous ways and is a real crowd pleaser too. Hopefully it will inspire some fabulous dishes.”
