Badger cull – High Court challenge decision awaited
The farming sector is waiting to hear about a decision on whether a High Court challenge to the planned badger cull will go ahead.
Reports by Farmers Guardian have claimed the decision on whether the court action will go ahead should be announced by this Friday (20 April).
The Badger Trust lodged a claim in the High Court at the end of February, seeking a Judicial Review of Defra’s decision to allow pilot culls in West Gloucestershire and West Somerset later this year.
If the case is allowed to proceed, the High Court hearing is expected to take place in June, the National Farmers’ Union has said.
