NFU beef chairman confident about future of industry
The new chairman of the NFU Beef Group has spoken about his optimism for the future of the beef sector.
Andy Foot, who farms 650 acres in Dorset, was appointed to lead the group last month. The group held its first meeting with the new chairman yesterday (26 April) and discussed cattle EID and animal health and welfare.
Foot said: “The long-term signals for the future of the industry are encouraging. The beef sector is in a far better position now than it has been for a number of years and the time is right to reap the rewards of current prices and drive the industry forward in an effort to improve profitability and efficiency.
“The success of Great British Beef Week, launched by the Ladies in Beef this week, highlights both the quality and value of great British beef to consumers.”
