Vion announces board restructuring

Vion has announced a number of changes to its executive board.

Geert Janssen, COO of Vion's fresh meat and convenience division, will be ending his 50-year career in the international meat sector on 31 December, citing the fact that he is turning 65 as his main reason for leaving. Janssen will continue to work for Vion as an advisor on a project basis.

At the same time, Daan van Doorn and Ton Lammers will also end their employment as CEO and chairman and CFO and vice-chairman respectively, because "they have reached the age that entitles them to do so", the company said.

Uwe Tillmann, COO Vion fresh meat and convenience has been appointed vice-chairman of Vion's executive board. He will fulfil this position temporarily alongside Ton Lammers. Tillmann will become chairman of the board from 31 December.

The position of CFO will become vacant, with the succession procedure for the new CFO already started and scheduled to be completed in the first half of 2009.

Dirk Kloosterboer, COO Vion ingredients, will be appointed vice-chairman of the executive board on 31 December 2009.
