Mystery meat found in takeaways
A BBC documentary is set to reignite the meat scandal with the discovery of an unidentifiable mystery meat in a takeaway lamb curry.
The BBC3 programme, Horsemeat Banquet, which airs tonight, sent a number of samples of curries and kebabs bought from a number of outlets across London for testing. In one case a beef in black bean source dish was found to contain high levels of chicken material, while a burger was discovered to contain no beef other than blood and heart.
However, an indian lamb curry was found to contain meat which the tests were unable to identify the animal it came from.
The story has sparked headlines across the press with the Daily Mail running a headline speculating whether dog meat had been added to the curry.
