The contest, hosted in Kortrijk, held every other year, saw a high number of entries and butchers from across the country being awarded for their products.
Chairman of the Q Guild, Brindon Addy, said: "Q Guild butchers flew the flag for the Brits in Belgium and came away with 49 award-winning products, including 23 golds, 12 silvers and 14 bronze. I want to thank our sponsor Dalziel – without them our members would not have been able to take part or even get their amazing products over to Belgium to enter the competition."
Pleased with the awards, Addy continued: "Nearly every one of our butchers has come back with a medal. This contest offers the opportunity to express our creative side and our products showcased this. We are proud to represent the UK in such an elite competition, and are looking forward to competing in the next event in 2015."
Members of the Q Guild, established in 1986, serve £3m-worth of meat and related products to more than 500,000 UK consumers every week. The Guild represents the highest-quality butchers and independent meat retailers in the UK.
