Welsh red meat hits the road

07 May, 2013

The Welsh Red Meat Roadshow aims to educate consumers about eating a balanced diet with cooking demonstrations, healthy eating advice and information about production methods.

Visitors will be able to sample food made by chefs and will be given recipe booklets and information on how to cook with Welsh Lamb, Welsh Beef and pork.

Chairman of Hybu Cig Cymru (HCC) Dai Davies said: “This is an exciting new venture, taking our message about the benefits of a healthy balanced diet combined with information about the environmentally friendly and traditional farming methods employed in Wales out on the road.”

Additionally, visitors will be given a list of butchers and retailers verified for selling Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef in each location.

Consumer executive at HCC Elwen Roberts said: “Our experience at shows such as the Royal Welsh proves that there is an enormous demand for information about how to cook red meat, what cuts to choose and how it fits into a healthy diet.”

The roadshow will visit places such as: Carmarthen, Aberystwyth, St Asaph, Conwy, Cardiff, Llangollen, Newport, Porthcawl, Tenby and Abergavenny.
