SuperMeat sets the stage for awards

With a little more than two weeks to go, the meat sector is gearing up for one of the main highlights of the industry’s calendar – the SuperMeat & Fish Awards.

Retailers including Aldi, Asda, The Co-operative, Lidl, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Tesco are all competing for prizes, with one retailer walking away with the prestigious title of SuperMeat & Fish Retailer of the Year.

Top comedian and sitcom star Hugh Dennis will be presenting the winners at this year’s glittering SuperMeat & Fish Awards. Dennis, star of Outnumbered and Radio 4’s The Now Show, will be handing out the gongs during the awards culmination at the Park Lane Hilton, London, on 4 July, 2013.

Ed Bedington, editor of MTJ, said: “SuperMeat is one of the stand-out dates in the meat trade calendar and the highlight of the summer. The night itself is always a brilliant evening and we’re all looking forward to it.”

The SuperMeat & Fish Awards, which have been running for more than a decade, reward excellence in supermarket retailing and the manufacture of meat, poultry and fish products.

The awards 2013 are sponsored by Bpex, Eblex, Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales, and the Livestock & Meat Commission Northern Ireland. The drinks reception will now be sponsored by packaging supplier Sharpak.
