Still time to enter National Pie competition
There is still time to be in with a chance of winning a top pie award at the National Pie Competition in Harrogate this month with entry deadline now extended to Tuesday, 22 October.
The competition, which takes place as part of the Butchers’ and Bakers’ Fair at the Yorkshire Event Centre, Harrogate, on October 27, allows butchers and bakers to go head to head to see who produces the UK’s best pie products.
The National Pie Competition, held in association with Meat Trades Journal and sister-title British Baker, and sponsored by Brook Food Processing offers four categories to compete in: Pork Pie, Savoury Pie, Steak & Kidney and Pasties.
Ed Bedington, editor of MTJ, said: “This competition offers a great chance for butchers to show off their pie making skills. The bakers will be there in force, but we all know that butchers make the best pies, so now’s the chance to prove it!”
The fair itself is free for butchers to attend, and registration is still open for anyone wishing to attend.
The fair features a mix of first rate exhibitors, showcasing the latest products and trends for the market, live demonstrations and speakers, which include champion sausage maker Allan Bennett.
