Devon firm OTM suspension to be lifted in days
Animal health minister Ben Bradshaw announced his decision to initiate the process of lifting the OTM suspension at West Devon Meats yesterday.
The Devon firm had its licence to kill OTM cattle suspended on 1 December after irregularities in its BSE testing procedures came to light.
Bradshaw said: "I am pleased to say that decision has been taken in record time, without compromising the safety of the human food chain."
However, he added his decision was separate from the Food Standards Agency investigation which was primarily concerned with the grounds for prosecution.
The FSA have finished their investigation and it will be published in due course, said a spokeswoman for Defra
