Joyce onboard with HCC

HCC - Meat Promotion Wales has announced the appointment of Bill Joyce as its new marketing manager.

Joyce, who will take up his new post at HCC on 14 May, 2007, has spent all his working life in the meat industry and his previous position was as general manager market development for Meat & Wool New Zealand.

Gwyn Howells, chief executive at HCC said: "We are delighted to have someone of Bill's knowledge and expertise leading the marketing team at HCC. He brings with him a wealth of experience and I'm confident that this will lead to major gains for Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef both in the domestic and export market."

During a lengthy career with Meat and Wool New Zealand, Joyce has been based in London, Brussels, the Middle East and Washington DC, as well as New Zealand. While in the US, he was appointed as a director of the US Beef Promotion and Research Board. He has also been a director of New Zealand's domestic meat promotion organisation, the New Zealand Beef and Lamb Marketing Bureau. Early in his career, he worked in the meat department of a major British supermarket chain.

Joyce said: "I look forward to working with the Welsh red meat industry to help build Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef as premium brands. It will only be by constantly reinforcing the quality attributes of Welsh meat that better returns can be achieved and a sustainable future be assured for Welsh farmers and those in the Welsh red meat industry."

Bill's first assignment as marketing manager for HCC will be at the Asian International food and hospitality trade show, HOFEX, in Hong Kong on 13-16 May 2007.
