Who would you like to see proclaimed the meat industry's Personality of the Year 2007?
The Meat Trades Journal is calling for your nominations for candidates who have made an outstanding contribution to the sector over the past 12 months.
The nominations will then be put before the entire meat industry for everyone to vote for their favourite, with the winner being revealed at the SuperMeat and Fish Awards 2007 on June 19 at the Park Lane Hilton, London.
To nominate your candidate simply email email@example.com. We will then collate the entries before putting up the nominees to allow the rest of the industry to vote. The Meat Industry Personality of the Year, sponsored by Interfood Technology, is a brand new award for SuperMeat & Fish 2007.
Meanwhile, the deadline for product entries for SuperMeat has now closed, but entries have been streaming in over the last couple of weeks, leaving judges with a mammoth task to whittle down the field to select the best in the sector.
Manufacturers supplying products to our participating retailers, Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's, Waitrose and the Co-operative Group, have all entered their best meat and fish products with the hopes of claiming a top award.
Sponsoring the event this year so far is the Vion Food Group, EBLEX, HCC - Meat Promotion Wales, Interfood Technology, the Danish Bacon & Meat Council, Bord Bia and BPEX, with more to be confirmed.
The awards, established by MTJ in 1999, aim to encourage new product development, recognise the professional and creative development that is driving the industry forward and raise confidence and awareness in the meat, poultry and fish industries, as well as honouring the top stores around Britain.
Ed Bedington, editor of MTJ, said: "As the awards get closer the competition gets intenser. I'm looking forward to seeing who the industry nominates as its Personality of the Year, I can think of a few likely candidates myself, but I look forward to seeing who is placed in the spotlight. Don't forget to email your nominees as soon as possible."
