AA Quality Meat, based in Wadebridge, Cornwall, is celebrating success after winning a learndirect Achievement Award at the South West Regional Awards Ceremony.

Employee Celly Donlan won the South West Region Learning at Work Award, which recognises learners who have been supported by their employer to complete a learndirect course. She was nominated for the award by her tutor Judith Venning at Cornwall College's learndirect learning centre.

Donlan came to learndirect to learn how to use a computer to do the company's administration. Her dedication and enthusiasm for IT has led the business to transform the way it is run - she has even inspired her employer to get internet access for the first time.

Donlan said: "Before I started at learndirect, the company I work for was largely run on paper-based systems. I took ICT courses and used what I learnt at learndirect to introduce e-systems to the company and improve efficiency.

"I've consolidated my working hours from five days a week to two days a week, leaving me more time with my children and the ability to work from home. Even my boss has a computer now and everything is there electronically for others in the company to use."

Dereth Wood, Ufi Operations Director said: "All of the South West Regional winners are an inspiration to millions of learners across England and their commitment in developing their skills and qualifications is something we can all be proud of. Each of these individuals truly deserves recognition and I wish them the best of luck at the national ceremony in October."
