Israeli traceability solution provider ImageID is starting to increase its presence in the European meat industry, announcing deals with German and Dutch firms.

Westfalenland-Fleischwaren in Germany and Plukon in The Netherlands have now signed contracts to use the Visidot supply chain traceability system, which is said to have been used successfully in operation in meat, poultry and fish production sites in Germany, France, Spain and the UK. The Visidot is claimed to be the only AIDC (Automatic Identification and Data Capture) technology capable of identifying hundreds of bar codes in less than three seconds with 100% accuracy. No other AIDC technology can claim this, said ImageID, especially in the challenging environment of meat processing where scanners and RFID fail to deliver satisfactory results.

Visidot is said to compare tag information automatically with order data and alerts of any errors, thus eliminating returns and claims.

Spain's processed meat firm Campofrío Food Group recently implemented the Visidot in its Burgos production plant, with the latest technology for Detection of Unlabelled Assets' Location (DUAL), and said it has produced fantastic results. IT director Santiago Peña said: "Visidot optimises our logistics process, increasing efficiency and quality and thus improving customer satisfaction."
