A revised list of approved plants for the export of pork has been received by the UK embassy in Seoul.
BPEX export manager Jean-Pierre Garnier said: "Although this has been a long time coming, this is indeed good news for our sector. There are 23 premises on the list, 15 processing plants and eight cold stores.
"Korea used to be an important export market for us, taking 1,774 tonnes, worth up to £2.2 million in 2005. It is one of the world's major pork importers, purchasing up to 300,000 tonnes a year. We are now looking to capitalise on this opportunity."
