Firms work on 'healthy' towels

Two of the UK's leading suppliers to the meat and healthcare industries have teamed up to deliver a cost-effective 'no touch' roll hand towel system to the food manufacturing industry.

Needlers a supplier of personal protective equipment to the food manufacturing industry is now the largest supplier of Kimberly Clark's 'no touch' rolled hand towel system to the UK. The towel system has been developed with Airflex technology, which Kimberly Clark claims delivers excellent drying performance, reliability and value with each towel. Towels are dispensed in a fashion that means only the user touches them, ensuring improved hygiene and removing the need to launder dirty towels.

With rolls of up to 304m in length, the system also helps to reduce the need for regular refilling and has a pre-set towel length to help control usage.

Needlers managing director Alistair Needler said: "We're very proud to be working alongside Kimberly Clark to supply this innovative roll towel system.

"The dispenser has already helped a number of our customers to make considerable cost savings by reducing waste and replenishment time and to ensure improved hygiene standards with its 'no touch' feature."

A successful trial of the product was held at Northamptonshire-based Wellness Food. Group financial analyst at Wellness Foods said: "Our previous dispensers were not very economical and, since we made the switch, we've reduced waste and costs significantly."
