Bpex reveals pig health assessment dates
Bpex has launched new dates for abattoir assessments involving the Bpex Pig Health Scheme (BPHS) from July through to the end of December this year.
The assessments will provide detail information on health issues when examining the carcase in one of the 14 abattoirs participating in the scheme. It will be able to determine health issues regarding pneumonia, pleurisy, APP and worms.
The producers, which are already part of the Bpex Pig Health Improvement Project (PHIP), will receive these assessments free of charge.
On the day of the assessment, producers will provide abattoirs that are participating in the scheme with pigs that will be assessed. Within two days. the producers will receive a report of their health.
Bpex is working with two high-throughput abattoirs in comparing BPHS-data with data from the Food Standards Agency meat inspectors. Aligning the sets of data will provide a better overview for producers in the future.
