GB Olympic bobsledders thank butchers
Wiltshire’s Olympic bobsleigh hopefuls John Jackson and Paula Walker were in Devizes earlier this week to thank their sponsor – award-winning butcher’s Walter Rose & Son.
Jackson and Walker, who live in Trowbridge, are competing in the bobsleigh in the Winter Olympics in Sochi. But they took time out of their schedule to show their gratitude to the support given by Walter Rose & Son.
The partnership came about as a result of what Walker describes as a rather cheeky email looking for sponsors. Both the butchers and the sledders said they were pleased with the association.
Walter Rose & Son owner Steve Cook said: “It isn’t every day you get a couple of Olympians in your shop, picking up their steak supper. But they are such a lovely couple, it is a real pleasure to be associated with them.
“Their sport is about power and speed as well as precision – and you need some top-quality fuel to build such powerful bodies and that’s where we come in. Our policy is to source as much of our meat as possible from within Wiltshire – a lot of it comes from within a few miles of our Devizes shop, providing top quality and absolute traceability.”
