British Turkey Awards 2014 open for entries
The British Turkey Awards 2014 have invited retailers to showcase their poultry products as entries are now open.
The awards are spread across 11 categories including Retailer of the Year, which has been won by Asda for the last four years. Other categories include Best Meal Solution, Best Innovation and Student Chef of the Year. Student Chef entrants will compete to cook the best turkey starter and turkey main to be served at The Savoy on 25 September 2014. The catering categories will be split into cost sector - local authorities, and profit sector - pubs, hotels and restaurants.
A panel of judges made up of a consumer, a consultant chef, plus journalists from a host of industry magazines will evaluate products against a set of criteria: taste, appearance, packaging, quality and value for money.
Nicola Compton, chair of the British Turkey Federation’s publicity and marketing committee said: “This is our 18th year of the British Turkey Awards and, each time, we see some fantastic new products to suit all meal occasions and consumers have a better choice than ever. It shows the retailers are really supporting the industry and we hope to see some more exciting entries in 2014. There really is no reason why turkey should not be part of the weekly shop.”
