Entries invited for National Pie Competition
As the Bakers’ and Butchers’ Autumn Fair approaches, the National Pie Competition held at the event is now open for entries.
In association with Meat Trades Journal and sister publication British Baker, the fair will be held at Newark Showground, Nottinghamshire, on 12 October 2014 and will showcase the best of butchery and its products to the market. The National Pie Competition sees butchers go head-to-head for the chance to win one of the coveted prizes of Best Pastry, Best Pork Pie, Best Savoury Pie and Best Steak and Kidney Pie.
Ed Bedington, editor of Meat Trades Journal, said the competition could enhance a butchery firm: “Pies are often the cornerstone of a good butchery business and to have a top-quality offering can really help make a business stand out. The National Pie Competition offers butchers, and bakers the chance to benchmark their products against the competition, and a win can be great for the business.
“Being able to boast that you’re an award-winning pie-maker is not only going to prove popular with your existing customers, but will also attract new ones looking to sample your expertise.”
The competition is free to enter and will give butchers the chance to assess their pie production skills. Hopefuls should visit www.bakersandbutchersfair.co.uk to complete an entry form.
