Derbyshire farm shop’s World Cup sausages raise money for charity
Despite the Football World Cup coming to an end, one Derbyshire farm shop has left a World Cup legacy for a local children’s charity.
Like many butchers across the country, Croots Farm Shop in Duffield, Derbyshire launched a special World Cup range of sausages. The farm shop donated 10% of the proceeds from the sausages, which came to £260, to Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre. This brings its total fundraising for the charity to £1,050.
The butchers at Croots developed recipes for Bangerooney, Costa Rican, Italian and Uruguayan-themed sausages. But the Italian sausage, made of pork, tomato, mozzarella and basil, proved most popular.
This is just one of the many fundraisers the farm shop has done for the charity, which offers disadvantaged Derbyshire children holidays in Skegness, Lincolnshire, and currently provides 450 holiday places per season for boys and girls aged from eight to 14.
“We were delighted with the support Croots’ customers gave to our World Cup sausage range, which has helped us to raise £260 for Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre,” said Croots Farm Shop owner Steve Croot. “I’d like to thank them for their generosity, and also thank our creative butchers for once again designing such a tasty range of sausages.”
