Game body reveals how to handle grouse
The shooting season is almost under way and to help consumers enjoy grouse to its fullest, game promotion body Taste of Game has produced a guide to the meat.
The Glorious Twelfth signals the beginning of the game season, which will also coincide with the publication of the brochure, Glorious Grouse. Taste of Game, part of the British Association for Shooting & Conservation (BASC), said the publication will include recipes, as well as a list of UK grouse suppliers.
Annette Cole from Taste of Game said: “The guide includes a few recipes that you can try. If you’re looking for a treat and want to eat seasonal, low-fat, natural and wild game, then you must try grouse. Some consider it the best of all game birds for taste. There is little that beats traditional roast grouse served with bread sauce, game chips, watercress and redcurrant jelly – a real taste of the late British summer and early autumn.”
