Welsh minister presents Beef and Lamb DVD to Sial delegates

Wales’ deputy minister for farming and food Rebecca Evans attended the Welsh stand at Sial Paris this year, and launched a multilingual DVD to promote Welsh meat to different markets.

Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales’ (HCC) stand at Sial, which ran from 19-23 October, showcased Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef as it sought to identify new customers. Evans presented a reception for the launch of the new DVD. She said: “We pride ourselves on supplying some of the finest produce in the world, including Welsh Lamb and Beef, so I am delighted to be at this world-renowned food exhibition to launch this promotional DVD, which highlights the premium quality of Welsh red meat.

“HCC and Welsh processors are working hard to gain access to emerging markets and I hope this new DVD will help identify and persuade new customers across the world to buy Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef.”

HCC explained that the show attracted more than 150,000 visitors from over 200 countries, which is why it decided to give the first public showing of the 13-language DVD at Sial. It added: “The DVD has been produced for an international audience and features iconic aerial images of the Welsh countryside, sweeping across mountains and valleys to the coastline to emphasise the clean, green environment in which Welsh sheep and cattle thrive.”

At Sial, Meatinfo.co.uk was told by HCC that exports were up 13% last year, worth more than £220 million to Wales, and the aim at Sial was to help continue this progress. After Evans’ visit, the organisation praised the “very good working relationship” it has with Welsh government in opening up new markets.
