Eblex stages Singapore event for beef

Eblex has hosted an event to showcase Quality Standard Beef to the foodservice sector in Singapore, where there could be significant opportunities for exports.

The event, at the ToTT Cooking Studio in Singapore, saw chefs demonstrating the versatility of Quality Standard Beef and giving their takes on new and traditional cuts. Guest of honour His Excellency British High Commissioner Antony Phillipson gave the opening address.

Organised by Eblex with the support of UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) and the British Chamber of Commerce (BCC), the event included a butchery session, which focused on the forequarter to maximise use of the carcase. The session also provided a networking opportunity for UK exporters and local importers.

Susana Morris, Eblex export manager, said: “Beef production in the UK is among the most sustainable in the world. With around 7,000 foodservice outlets in Singapore, there are huge opportunities for the export of high-value cuts of quality beef to the sector.

“The event gave delegates the chance to find out more about UK beef production through direct contact with key Eblex staff and UK exporters, as well as highlighting how chefs can make the most of different cuts.”
