Tulip introduce pulled pork in cans
Pork-producing giant Tulip has launched the UK’s first canned pulled pork product, which it believes will revitalise the canned meat category.
The product is manufactured in Denmark by Danish Crown, Tulip’s parent company.
Mark Phillips, Tulip’s grocery division commercial director, said: “Our new canned pulled pork product is a major leap forward for the sector and offers busy consumers a fantastic tasting and extremely versatile alternative to the traditional ‘store cupboard’ staples.”
The pulled pork is available in cans of 340g, priced at £1.99. Tulip said the can serves two to four people and is ready to eat after two minutes in the microwave.
Phillips added: “Consumers are becoming increasingly aware that buying canned produce doesn’t necessarily have to mean a compromise on quality or taste. The sector has been notoriously slow to introduce new and exciting offerings, based mainly on the perception that sales would predominantly consist of the usual staples.
“We believe, however, that given the versatility and convenience, combined with a relatively low purchase price, our pulled pork will attract a whole new generation of shoppers to the category and will add some much-needed value growth.”
