Bedington to depart MTJ

It is with great sadness that Meat Trades Journal announces the departure of long-standing editor Ed Bedington to sister title the Publican’s Morning Advertiser.

Bedington, who has helmed the title for almost nine years, will be leaving Meat Trades Journal at the end of March.

He said: “I’m very sad to be leaving what is an exciting and vibrant sector and magazine. I’ve enjoyed my time immensely while working on MTJ and have got to know many in the industry personally. As it’s often alleged that I spend most of my time in the pub, it’s only appropriate that I put that time to good use and start writing about them!”

Sonia Young, publisher of MTJ, said: “Ed has captained Meat Trades Journal and its many activities and events safely through a period of innovation and tremendous growth, ensuring the brand’s market leadership and valued editorial remained best in class and valued by the UK meat sector. He oversaw the acquisition and merger of Meat and Poultry News into the Meat Trades Journal stable, developed www.meatinfo.co.uk, and was pivotal in the launch of www.globalmeatnews.com. We wish him every success in his new role and know his colleagues and friends in the industry will miss his passion for the industry and his support – but not his jokes.”
