Free meat supply chain event organised

Pork and red meat levy bodies Bpex and Eblex are offering meat industry professionals a free conference set to discuss the use and flow of information in the supply chain.

The conference will cover the latest Food Standards Agency (FSA) projects for improving food chain information (FCI), the collection and communication of inspection results (CCIR) and reporting systems.

The conference will also address EU draft legislation for FCI for pigs, AHDB reported.

AHDB/Eblex business development manager Christine Walsh said: Our aim is to continue help the meat industry and the FSA to support improvements to food safety, animal health and welfare and productivity.

This is a timely opportunity for the meat processing sector to get involved to discuss and influence the type of information to be captured and how it can be best transferred up and down the meat supply chain. Abattoir technical managers, meat processors and allied industry are all invited to attend.

To register, contact Cheryl Barker by Tuesday 26 May: cheryl.barker@ahdb.org.uk 0247 647 8893. More information can be found online at www.eblex.org.uk/events or www.bpex.org.uk/events
