Robin Hood Championship prizes awarded at Nottinghamshire County Show

The Nottinghamshire Council of Retail Meat Traders celebrated the 21st Robin Hood Championship earlier this month at the Nottinghamshire County Show.

The president and members of the council were pleased with nearly a 20% increase in the number of entries for this years competition. It believes the championship highlights the quality and variety that the local independent butcher sector produces.

David Plane, Farmer Copley (Butchers) from Pontefract had a successful day, winning the Nottinghamshire Council of Retail Meat Traders Trophy for his Speciality Sausage and taking the Council Shield as the overall sausage winner.

Another successful entrant was Robert Bowring of Mansfield, who nearly had a clean sweep in the Pie and Pastry classes, winning three out of the four awards.
