Tulip enters collective consultation
Tulip announced on Monday (29 February) that it has entered into a period of collective consultation with a number of its employees at its site in Bromborough, on the Wirral.
The news follows an announcement last October, which revealed that the company had been unsuccessful in its efforts to retain and grow some of its businesses at the same site, which produces fresh sausages for retail and foodservice customers in the UK, after a recent supplier review with one of its customers.
“Our current agreement with this particular customer comes to an end in May, after which we will see a phased reduction in production, which equates to almost half of total production at Bromborough,” said a statement released by Tulip. “We have aimed to keep potential job losses to a minimum, but have identified 121 people at risk of redundancy.
“We will now enter a period of collective consultation with employee representatives at the site.”
