AHDB Pork welcomes new veterinary manager
Industry levy board AHDB (Agriculture & Horticulture Development Board) Pork has welcomed antimicrobial expert Lucy Coyne to the organisation.
Serving as the board’s veterinary manager, Coyne is currently completing her PhD at Liverpool University.
Her previous experience includes a mixed practice in Staffordshire, acting as the official vet at a dog track in Birmingham, and work as an equine vet as well as spending time on secondment to the Veterinary Medicines Directorate.
“I became fascinated by antimicrobials while working on my PhD and wanted to continue in the same vein,” she explained. “That is why the job with AHDB Pork really appealed.”
Veterinary team manager Martin Smith said the levy board is excited to be joined by Coyne. “We are delighted to have Lucy join the team as her expertise will be of great value to both AHDB Pork and the wider industry.
“Antimicrobial usage and resistance are becoming more and more important and her knowledge in this area will be invaluable.”
