Police and fire services were called to a fire at the abattoir, run by J&D Haworth and trading as Yorkshire Country Meats, in Heath Road at 7.50pm. The cause has yet to be determined, with Lincolnshire Police appealing to any witnesses that saw suspicious activity in the area.
According to Lincolnshire Live, 30 firefighters from Skegness, Wainfleet, Spilsby, Leverton and Alford were called to tackle the blaze, drawing on six appliances.
The incident response teams were decreased to three fire crews by 2am Saturday morning and, by 6am, just two relief crews remained.
