Scottish butcher boosts burger sales

Simon Howie – The Scottish Butcher is celebrating a bumper summer, with sales of its premium BBQ range growing. 

Sales of its Premium Steak Burger have more than doubled year-on-year, with the UK’s top two supermarkets Tesco and Sainsbury’s stocking it throughout large parts of their estates.

Inspired by an online post by celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal, Simon Howie’s Premium Steak Burger is made using a noodle textured fill system ensuring a loosely-packed burger that is juicer and more flavourful than a typical hand- or machine-made burger.

First listed in Tesco in 2015, the company then responded to the growing demand for quality free-from products and adapted the burger to make it gluten-free in the winter of 2016. The company saw an immediate sales jump of 40%.

The burger is now also available in both a 227g two-pack and a 454g four-pack, featuring its new summer branding to fit with the BBQ range, which also consists of a Tennessee-inspired bourbon burger, as well as big bite jumbo dogs in both plain pork and bourbon flavour.

The new packaging designs will roll out across the company’s entire product portfolio this year.
